About
Zoe Coldham is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer based in Melbourne/Naarm. In 2018, she worked as a camera operator on two feature-length documentaries, Now Sound: Melbourne’s Listening and The Art of Incarceration, both of which premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival. The Art of Incarceration is now available to stream on Netflix. After three years in London, she directed her debut feature documentary, Journey to the West, which premiered in 2022 and is now available on Amazon Prime. Her debut documentary short, Charlotte, won Best Documentary at the Academy Award® Qualifying St Kilda Film Festival. Following on from that, she produced the short film, Double Patty, which was selected for the Academy Award® Qualifying and BAFTA Qualifying festival Flickerfest Film Festival.
In 2024, she collaborated with organisations Our Watch and The Resilience Project, directing films addressing violence against women with disabilities and promoting mental health strategies for youth. Her work for Our Watch earned a National Disability Award for Innovation. Earlier that year, she received the City of Yarra Arts Grant to create a short documentary on the history of Gore Street in Fitzroy. The film is set to premiere at a prominent Melbourne film festival later this year.
In 2023, her photography for the Piccolina 8 Chef’s in 8 Weeks Campaign was recognised for an ADGA award. Her video work has been exhibited at major art galleries, including The Barbican in London and Bozar in Brussels.
